Who, or what, are you serving?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for May 19, 2008:
I recently had staff training for my summer job. I am a camp councelor at a Christian day camp. I should be doing this always, but especially now it has been made apparent that I serve God and society. I do this by helping out not just when expected of me, making sure I am morally stable, going out of my way make sure other people are treating people respectfully, avoiding gossip, and teaching others, as well as being open to learning. I keep a high standard for myself, which means I mess up a lot, but it also means I get better with practice. I encourag others to do the same. I don't judge and I don't reject, and I make sure the others I associate myself do the same.
I serve the idea that anyone can be better if only they would try, and I make sure I try hard.

service to others is the first rule of existence. Recognising you are part of a grander scheme, a more ultimate plan. Once you do your service, you will be in the cycle of giving / receiving; all things shall come to you to sustain you. Universal law, universal consequence. It is only when we waver from this, and become 'consumers' and 'takers' first, that we suffer what we do.
give, give, and continue to give; it shall return in due.
Well, that, and I don't need it to return. I trust that I will be taken care of. And if something bad befalls me, it was just time for something to go crazy in my life. I believe in gving my 100%, but I don't need someone else's 100% to persuade me to do it.
